What to do with Empty Alcohol Bottles

My guess is that when you have bottles of alcohol, you know what to do with the contents inside, drink it! However, often we find ourselves in the position where we are unsure what to do once we have taken the last sip. Do we recycle the bottle, throw it away? The answer is none of the above. We find other uses for it! What can we really do with an empty beer bottle? Lots! Here are a few easy DIY tricks you can use to transform your bottles into other things. Talk about getting your money’s worth!

1. Vase — Use your bottles as a holder for fresh flowers (or plastic ones). This would make a nice centerpiece in your kitchen or on a coffee table.

2. Candle holder — If you are looking for something quirky, yet decorative and fun, use your bottles as candle holders. They are easy to transport and they look really nice sometimes.

3. Blacklight Decoration — Clean out your bottle, add water inside, and drain the ink of a highlighter in the water. Add a blacklight behind your bottles and voila, you have neon party lights.

4. Tumblers — There is a simple way to cut bottles using a piece of cotton string, acetone nail polish remover, water, and a lighter. Cut the neck off of your bottle, and you’ll have perfectly shaped cups for drinking beverages (alcoholic or not) out of.
** You can also make vases with different neck openings once you figure out how to make different angles.

5. Lamp — One of the most functional and cool ways to use an empty bottle is to turn it into a quirky lamp. All you need is a little wire with a plug, a bulb, bulb socket, and a lamp shade.

6. Soap Dispenser — Find a screw on cap with a hose, and turn your bottle into a cool soap dispenser. This also works for corked bottles. just insert the hose into the cork.

7. Aquarium — What could be cooler than having little fishies swimming in a cool looking bottle of your favorite alcohol.       (Just make sure they have enough space)

8. Shooting Targets — There is just something satisfying about shooting at a glass bottle and actually seeing it shatter. Just make sure to wear protective eye ware and do this is a safe place.

9. Wind chime — Glass wind chimes sound so pretty!

10. Planter — Turn your bottle into something eco-friendly and use it as a planter for your favorite flowers.

11. Tiki Torch/Kerosene lamp — Fill with Kerosene, add a wick, and light!

12. Bottle cap push pins — Add pins to the caps of the bottles for clever push pins. You can also make magnets.

13. Cork Stamps — Turn your corks into stamps for decorative purposes by cutting a design in them.

14. Bird feeder — Invert your bottle and add liquid bird feed. Or, attach a tray at the neck and add dry bird feed. Hang in your yard.

15. Bottle Cap Coasters — Glue caps together to make a coaster so you can be sure not to make water rings when you continue drinking.

As you can see, there are so many things you can do with your used bottles, caps, and corks. Try some of these before you just give up and feed the trash can. Drink on, folks!
