Packing drinksfor onthe go

Summer is here, and in most areas of the country, the crowds will inevitably find themselves on a beach, at the park, an outdoor event or something of the like. Wanting to celebrate summer while it is here, you might be considering packing some drinks to take to your next picnic or barbecue. I would like to share some of my fail proof favorites from over the years.

Mason Jars:

Many of you reading these probably have these at home already in your kitchen cabinets. Mason jars are a great option because they are reusable, inexpensive, and leak proof, which makes them the perfect solution for taking your drinks on the go. I like to get a decent sized cooler, arrange the filled jars at the bottom, and pour ice around and on top of them to keep them extra cool.

Making a boozy lemonade? Add a piece of sliced fruit as a flavorful garnish. The largest downside of going with mason jars, is that when you are finished with your beverage, you have to store the empty jar somewhere, which might not work at a festival for example. So keep that in mind when you are selecting which vessel to store your beachy drinks.

Plastic Zip Pouches:

This might be a better option for those that do not want to haul around empty containers after all the fun has been had. You can buy leak resistant, food safe plastic zip pouches to carry your drinks in. These can very easily be found to purchase online, and in some brick and mortar stores as well. It is sort of like a homemade adult juice box. Unzip the pouch a little and insert a colorful straw and you are ready to relax. Adding slices of fruit can really take these from boring to tempting, so have fun with it.

Juice Bottles:

Are you spiking some pink lemonade for your next party? Well consider hanging onto the large bottle it came in to transport it to the party. These bottles are nice because they typically have a wide mouth on top, allowing you to add slices of fruit for a fun infused lemonade, spa water to go, or a serious sangria.

That concludes our guide to taking your drinks on the go this summer. Now all that is left is filling up these containers with your beverage of choice. My personal favorites include different kinds of sangria, spiked lemonades or punch, and beer cocktails. I hope that these suggestions help you enjoy summer a little bit harder. Give them a try and comment to let us know how it worked out.
